For Dr. Suzonne Crockett, things have come full circle.

Associate Dean Crockett

Standing in the same room where she was once a student, Crockett was celebrated as the newest Associate Dean at Lamar State College Orange.

“This is where it all started,” she said through tears and surrounded by her colleagues. “This campus has done so much for me and each of you have helped along the way.”

Dr. Crockett, whose previous title was Division Director of Math and Education, was surprised with the promotion at a ceremony in the Academic Center on campus Tuesday.

Dean of Academic Studies, Dr. Gwen Whitehead, made the announcement, highlighting the effort and heart Dr. Crockett puts into her work at LSCO.

LSCO President, Dr. Tom Johnson, said Dr. Crockett "embodies the best of what makes Lamar State College Orange an excellent choice for higher education."

Each campus Dr. Crockett attended – Lamar State College Orange, Lamar University, and Sam Houston State University – is part of the Texas State University System.

"This a beautiful testament to the power of education and how Dr. Crockett seized the opportunity and hope the education system provided," said Executive Vice President Dr. Al Barringer. "This was not only a proud moment for Dr Crockett but for all the Lamar State College Orange family.

Dr. Crockett is a proud mother of four grown children, Granny to 11 grandchildren, and the loving wife of Reverend Ronnie Crockett.
