August 20, 2026

Lamar State College Orange has been named the 2026 All-Star College by Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas, recognizing the college’s commitment to workforce development, industry partnerships and preparing a skilled workforce to meet the needs of Southeast Texas employers.
LSCO was honored during Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas’ annual Employer Awards Presentation on August 13. The awards recognize regional businesses and organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to workforce development, economic growth and the communities they serve.
“We are incredibly grateful to Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas for this recognition,” LSCO President Dr. Wendy Elmore said. “Our mission is closely connected to the success of the communities and industries we serve. This award reflects the commitment of our faculty and staff to creating opportunities for students and employees while helping employers build the skilled workforce they need to succeed.”
The All-Star College Award recognizes LSCO’s employer-centered approach to workforce development. Through its Workforce and Corporate Partnerships division, the college works directly with businesses to identify skills gaps, develop customized training and connect employers with workforce resources that support employee advancement and economic growth.
The regional honor also places LSCO in consideration for the Texas Workforce Commission’s statewide All-Star College of the Year Award. The statewide award recognizes a community or technical college that strengthens the Texas workforce system through innovative training, employer partnerships and efforts to address workforce skills gaps.
“This recognition belongs to the team members and industry partners who are doing this work every day,” said Kristin Tow-Walker, Associate Vice President of Statewide Partnerships. “Our workforce team listens to employers, works to understand the challenges they are facing and finds ways to build training around those needs. None of that happens without strong industry partners who are willing to collaborate with us and invest in their employees and in the future of our region.”
LSCO’s workforce partnerships include regional industry leaders such as Chevron Phillips Chemical, Indorama Ventures and ARLANXEO. Through Skills Development Fund partnerships, the college is providing specialized training in areas including fire response, industrial rescue and hazardous materials operations. LSCO also works with regional employers, school districts, economic development organizations and community partners to strengthen pathways into high-demand careers.
Through customized training, industry partnerships and expanded pathways from education to employment, LSCO continues to serve as a link between employers, students and communities while helping strengthen the workforce and economy of Southeast Texas.
