SGA Board at TSUS Meeting

On Friday, February 14, 2025, Josh Taylor, President of Lamar State College Orange's (LSCO) Student Government Association (SGA) and Chair of the Texas State University System (TSUS) Student Advisory Board (SAB), addressed the TSUS Board of Regents during their quarterly meeting in Austin. Taylor, the first student from a two-year college to hold the SAB chair position, presented on behalf of students across the system.

In his remarks, Taylor emphasized the importance of student representation in decision-making processes and highlighted recent initiatives aimed at enhancing student life and academic success. He stated, "Our greatest goal is to make sure we solve our students' issues on a system-wide level, which involves seven other campuses." Taylor also discussed efforts to increase collaboration among student governments within the TSUS, aiming to foster a unified approach to common challenges.

Reflecting on his role, Taylor noted, "I am preparing myself to become as understanding as possible so I can advocate for our students to the best of my ability." His leadership marks a significant milestone for LSCO, demonstrating the impactful contributions of students from two-year institutions within the broader university system.

The Board of Regents acknowledged Taylor's dedication and the SAB's efforts, expressing appreciation for the valuable insights provided by student leaders. This engagement underscores TSUS's commitment to incorporating student perspectives into governance and policy development.
