Building a Stronger Workforce: LSCO Welcomes Michelle Hammerly as New Director

Michelle Hammerly has been named the new Director of Workforce Programs. With a high level of expertise in program management and vast knowledge of the educational field, Hammerly has accumulated an abundance of experience in various avenues of education throughout her career. 

The power of continuing education is valuable to her. She is passionate about empowering institutional leaders and improving educational programs to best prepare students for the workforce. Her enthusiasm for these virtues and prestige in the field made her a standout candidate for this role.

“Mrs. Hammerly brings a robust background in educational leadership to our workforce education initiatives, positioning the college to effectively address the reskilling and upskilling needs of the entire region,” Dr. R.E. Davis, Dean of Industry and Manufacturing Programs, said. “Her expertise will elevate our workforce and continuing education programs, driving them to new heights.”

Hammerly earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Community Health Education both from Illinois State University.

“My educational background allowed me to work for a number of companies that valued preventative health and professional development for their employees,” Hammerly said.

She has an impressive career background with a successful track record in leadership positions. She has experience leading both employees and students. Her vast expertise stretches into the area of educating high school and college students in a healthcare setting.

“I have spent my entire career working with adult learners and students, both at Dupont and CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth,” Hammerly said.  “More recently, my role as the Director of Education at St. Elizabeth entailed ‘all things learning and competency’ for both clinical / non-clinical employees and students from our local Lamar campuses. I managed both instructor-led and online courses, and the instructors who served as the content experts.”

Michelle Hammerly’s knowledge and skills will help propel workforce education at LSCO. Her wisdom will help expand the potential of her position and encourage growth throughout the department.
