Phi Theta Kappa Recognized as Five Star Chapter
January 29, 2025
Lamar State College Orange's Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Alpha Nu Chapter has received the prestigious Five Star Chapter designation. This is the highest honor
a chapter can receive and provides the organization with local, regional and international
recognition.
In order to receive this status, PTK chapters must meet all five ‘star’ requirements
within one full calendar year including Reach, Engage, Network, Lead and Discover.
The number of categories completed at the end of the year determines the chapter’s
star status. By completing all five, the Alpha Nu Chapter earned the highest possible
designation.
“We hope this honor will allow us to expand our PTK chapter even further,” PTK Advisor,
Jessica Williams, said. “We [want] to continue to grow our Alpha Nu Gamma Chapter
and involve more alumni in our future endeavors.”
Students of PTK have put immense time and effort into refining their leadership skills,
and the lessons they take away stretch far beyond the classroom. Embarking on the
journey to earn Five Star Chapter status has enhanced member experience even more.
“Being in PTK has shown me how to help organize events on campus,” PTK Vice President
of Public Relations, Ella Burns, said. “This honor society has taught me the formalities
and processes that must come to make things happen on a professional level.”
Members of PTK have worked diligently to lead their peers and advisors to this achievement.
As trailblazers on campus, many are involved in multiple campus organizations and
student-led clubs in addition to PTK. Their drive and dedication to success have contributed
heavily to the attainment of the Five Star Chapter title.
