This course meets the national USP <797> regulations in addition to the newly passed Texas State Board of Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Rules 291.133.
The Hybrid Courses are designed to instruct and train pharmacy personnel in sterile compounding and aseptic technique procedures based on current USP Chapter <797> requirements. This course provides SCAT-focused instruction and training for the successful production of sterile parenteral preparations, a major responsibility of pharmacy personnel in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare. A study of sterile products, hand washing techniques, pharmaceutical calculations, references, safety techniques, aseptic techniques in parenteral compounding, proper use of equipment's, preparations of sterile products, and safe handling of antineoplastic drugs. This important work requires that mastery of aseptic technique: the procedures that avoid introducing pathogens into sterile products, ensure patient safety, and maintain product consistency. CPE activity participants that complete the course will receive a certificate of course completion and ACPE credit for 4.0 CEUs (40 hours).
Prerequisites: Registered Pharmacist, Certified Pharmacy Technician or prior approval from Program Director.
