Behind the scenes at LSCO is a man who works diligently to ensure the campus achieves standards, keeps records, and is consistently setting and meeting new goals.

It’s a job that Andy Preslar does quietly, patiently, and with a smile on his face.

As the Director of SACSCOC Reporting, SACSCOC Liaison, RISE Quality Enhancement Plan Director, and adjunct instructor, Preslar has been incredibly busy the last 18 months putting together the college’s interim reaccreditation report.

Lamar State College Orange is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, which conducts a comprehensive review of its institutions every ten years. The U.S. Department of Education requires accrediting agencies to monitor institutions more often so SACSCOC also requires a Fifth-Year Interim Report.

Putting together LSCO’s report has meant coordinating committees, gathering data, and more writing and editing than most people could handle.

But Preslar successfully completed the monumental task and recently submitted the college’s report.

His dedication was recognized in a surprise ceremony with those participated in the project with him. The ever-humble Preslar thanked the team for their role in completing the report.

“Let me thank everyone in the room because everyone was indispensable in putting the document together,” he said in the ceremony. “Everyone’s cooperation was absolutely necessary and everyone was generous with his or her time.”

Preslar said he was pleased with how well everyone assembled as a team to write narratives and pull documents to complete the report.

“Our goal was the same for the school we love and the students we love,” he said. “You all did excellent work and it is a privilege and a pleasure to be your colleague.”

With the report submitted, LSCO will wait several more weeks to hear from the SACSCOC review team.
