YES. Any Texas or Louisiana student who enrolls in only ONE course this summer and completes and submits the 2025-2026 FAFSA will NOT receive the credit for their one "free" course. This is a "BUY ONE, GET ONE" opportunity.
No. Students who enroll in more than one course this summer in any combination and completes and submits the 2025-2026 FAFSA will receive the credit for ONE additional summer course. Students who enroll in more than one course can enroll in any combination of summer courses and receive credit for up to ONE additional course:
- one course during summer one and one course during summer two; The summer two course will be free
- two courses during summer one; the second course will be free
- two courses during summer two; the second course will be free
- one course during the all summer semester and one course during either short summer semester; the course that has a later start date (if applicable) will be free
- two courses during the all summer semester; the second course will be free
Yes. Students are able to enroll in more than two courses during the summer, according to LSCO registration guidelines. Students are encouraged to contact an advisor or refer to the current catalog for details on enrollment limits during the summer semester. However, LSCO will only credit student accounts for ONE course if they complete and submit the 2025-2026 FAFSA and use LSCO’s code 016748.
Lamar State College Orange (LSCO) wants to ensure that every eligible Texan uses the free resources available from federal aid. If you qualify, Financial Aid funds will be applied to your student account. If your Financial aid is not enough to cover tuition, LSCO will cover the remaining expenses for students who have completed and submitted a 2025-2026 FAFSA. If your Financial aid exceeds the cost of attendance, remaining funds will be issued as a refund. All students who submit the 2025-2026 FAFSA, regardless of their financial aid eligibility, will qualify and will be credited for one free course if they enroll in more than one during the summer 2026 semesters.

Yes, your account does get reviewed for the credit automatically. As long as you completed the FAFSA for 2025-2026 and enroll in more than one summer course, you should be on track for a credit for ONE free course this summer. We will begin processing credits as soon as you enroll in coursework. College staff will contact you via your LSCO email address if you need to take further action.
Students must complete 2025-2026 FAFSA and assign LSCO code 016748 before the account can be reviewed. Once completed, LSCO Financial Aid staff will begin review of your student account and confirm that the requirement has been met. Once the review process has been completed, your tuition will be credited. College staff will contact you via your LSCO email address if you need to take further action.
You would need to add Lamar State College Orange to your record. While completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you must list at least one college to receive your information. To add colleges after you have already submitted your FAFSA, click the Login button on the home page and log into FAFSA on the Web. Click Make FAFSA Corrections, and then navigate to the “School Selection” page. To search for a college that you want to receive your information, select the state in which the college is located, then enter the city and/or school name, and click Search.
We will search our database and display your results in order by the best match. You can re-sort the list in alphabetical order by School Name. From the Search Results, you can select up to ten colleges to add to your list of Selected Schools. You can select an individual college, or you can press the Ctrl button on your keyboard and select multiple colleges. College staff will begin reviewing your account to see if you have completed and submitted all the 2025-2026 FAFSA, assigning the LSCO school code of 016748 in order to confirm that the credit can be applied. Once the review process has been completed, your account will be credited for ONE course enrolled in this summer. The business office will begin initiating the process for a refund as soon as your account has been cleared.
You can enroll in a second summer class to begin second term if the first term has already begun. You will need to complete and submit all the 2025-2026 FAFSA, assigning the LSCO school code of 016748, in order to confirm that the credit for the second course can be applied. Once the review process has been completed, your account will be credited for second course you enrolled in this summer.
There are payment plans available if a student has enrolled in Part of Term 1 (10-week semester). If students enroll in the traditional Summer I and Summer II (5-week semesters), there are no payment plan options.
We are currently evaluating students that have enrolled and will process credits to qualified students. Once your credit has been processed, and your balance is zero, the payment plan will stop.
Dual credit students who have not graduated high school yet (current juniors and below) are eligible for the buy one, get one free but do not have to complete the FAFSA requirement.
Residents of Texas and Louisiana are eligible to enroll in summer classes and receive the ONE free course for this summer with LSCO as long as they enroll in at least two courses and pay for one of them. Residents of other states are ineligible for the ONE free course offering.
Yes, funds are limited. But LSCO will only suspend the BUY ONE GET ONE FREE two for ONE course offering for the summer 2026 semester if all summer classes fill to capacity and/or all institutional funds and other earmarked funding sources are exhausted.
No. The opportunity is only used to pay for tuition and fees for the two for ONE summer courses for students who complete 2025-2026 FAFSA. It cannot be used to pay a student’s account balance.
No. Students who qualify for a Pell Grant and/or other grants will have the tuition and fees for the two for ONE FREE summer 2026 semester courses paid by their financial aid awards. Any remaining Pell funds left after paying tuition, fees, and/or textbooks will still be paid out to students.
Please note, refunds are only given for Pell or qualifying scholarships as part of the BOGO, institutional funds are not refundable to the student after the free tuition is paid.
