Mr. Edgar Brown loved parties and this home provided the base for grandiose entertaining for twenty years from 1956 until his death on January 8, 1976, at the age of 81. This dignified dining room contains Renaissance furniture made especially for Mr. Edgar Brown's parents, Dr. Edgar W. and Carrie L. Lutcher Brown, in New Orleans in the early 1900's. It is a copy of the Empire design, 1820-40, has 18 chairs, a sideboard, and buffet. The soft rose draperies are silk damask brocade with Italian Renaissance design; these and the magnificent carpet are original to the home. Triple hung windows open full length to provide doors when needed to facilitate buffet service and access to the Sun Room.
