The GPS: Navigate to Success Mentoring Program is a great way to enhance your student success experience at Lamar State College Orange. Our program matches first-year or first-time LSCO students with volunteer faculty and staff mentors to help:

  • Achieve academic excellence and belonging at LSCO.
  • Encourage students to embrace college life, while recognizing the importance of overcoming various demands to successfully pursue their goals.
  • Develop a student’s path of success and increase their knowledge about the resources at LSCO and in the professional environment.

Each Fall and Spring semester, the GPS program seeks interested faculty and staff who wish to be mentors and first time/first year students who may benefit from this initiative as a mentee.

  • A Mentor - A person who provides academic, professional and personal support.
  • A Mentee - A person who benefits from the insight, guidance and support of a Mentor.

The GPS program provides training, workshops, guest speakers, and an interactive support network that provides for an engaging and enjoyable experience. Mentors and mentees assignments are limited to a first come basis each year.
