LSC-O’s Reeves Earns Nationally Recognized Certification

Angela ReevesAngela Reeves, program manager for Workforce Development at Lamar State College-Orange, has received certification from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) and is now a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP).

Reeves joined LSC-O in 2006 and, on behalf of the college, has written federal and state grants totaling more than two million dollars. These grants provided workforce skills training to incumbent workers, the unemployed or under-employed labor force, and to those seeking new or updated skills. Reeves coordinates customized training courses for employers and has brought welding, heavy equipment and specialized computer training classes to the Workforce Education program by working closely with training partners in our area. She also coordinates the summer camp “College for Kids,” and has raised approximately 30,000 dollars in scholarships for nearly 200 kids.

The CWDP is a nationally recognized certification accepted throughout the United States. The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals has administered and endorsed the CWDP since 1999. CWDPs are individuals who have demonstrated to their peers that they have the skills, education, experience, ethics and commitment to professionalism to provide the highest quality workforce development services to our nation’s job seekers and businesses.
