CLEP
CLEP exams are administered on computer by appointment. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the Testing Office at (409) 882-3330. Examinees will receive unofficial score reports upon completion of each exam. Official score reports are generally received one month following the test dates. Listed below are the CLEP subject examinations and corresponding course correlates for which a student may receive credit at Lamar State College-Orange.
The testing fees of $72, payable to CLEP, and $15, payable to Lamar State College-Orange, must be submitted prior to testing.
The College Board CLEP Official Study can be ordered at www.collegeboard.com/clep at a cost of $24.95. This guide is also available at bookstores and libraries. Individual subject study guides can be downloaded for $10 each, and the CLEP Sampler can be downloaded free of charge at the College Board Web site www.collegeboard.com/clep

NOTES
1. *A total of six hours (HIS 1301 and HIS 1302) may be awarded for successful completion of the U.S. History CLEP exams; however, a student must take three additional hours of classroom instruction in American history to satisfy the state requirements for graduation.
2. **The composition and literature exams require the optional essay test before receiving credit at Lamar State College-Orange.
3. **The amount of credit awarded for Freshman College Composition is determined by the quality of the essay; either 0 hours, 3 credit hours in ENG 1301 or 6 credit hours in ENG 1301 and 1374.
4. ***The subject examinations for General Biology and General Chemistry will not meet the lab science requirement. No lab is available. These may be used for elective requirements only.
5. ****After passing the Information Systems and Computer Applications CLEP exam, a student must then demonstrate competency on a program or package usage test in the Computer Science Department before receiving credit for one or two of the following three-hour courses: COSC 1371 or CS 1311 at Lamar State College-Orange.
